What could fit in a 5×6 unit?

Use these examples as a starting point. The right fit depends on your item measurements, how you pack, and the room you leave for access.

Boxes plus a few small pieces

A mix of household boxes and compact furniture, such as an end table or a chair.

A small desk setup

A compact desk, chair, and office supplies if their measurements work with your packing plan.

Furniture taken apart

Shelving or a small table with removable parts can be easier to arrange alongside bins.

This is still a small unit. A mattress or bulky piece may fit by itself but leave little space for the rest of your belongings. Check the item dimensions and door clearance first.

How this size compares

The 5×6 offers 30 square feet, compared with 24 in a 6×4. That is 25% more floor area, with a narrower, deeper shape. If you are storing several large furniture pieces, the 10×14 is the next larger size we list.

Plan your packing

Measure furniture in the form you will actually store it. Remove legs or shelves where the manufacturer allows it, keep the hardware together, and plan where your boxes will go before moving day.

  • Measure the length, width, and height of your largest items.
  • Allow room for anything you need to reach during storage.

Questions about 5×6 storage

How does a 5×6 compare with a 5×5?

A 5×6 has the same nominal width and one extra foot of depth. Its 30 square feet give you 5 more square feet than a 5×5. That extra depth may help with your arrangement, but it does not guarantee that a particular item will fit.

Can I store a mattress in a 5×6?

Measure the mattress and any bed frame, then confirm the unit’s doorway and usable height with us. How you position it and what else you store will affect whether this size works.

What does this size cost, and is one available?

Check our Units & Prices page for current rates and availability. Select the 5×6 size if it is available. If you do not see it, call (509) 540-4583 to compare your options.

What should I confirm before renting?

Check the measurements of your largest items and ask us about doorway clearance and usable height if needed. Our rentals are month to month, with drive-up loading and 24/7 tenant access. Complete your rental and follow the move-in instructions before bringing your belongings.
